This Human Brain Project (HBP) Education Workshop set the grounds for the students to get started with high-performance computing (HPC)-based research and thus lays the foundation for them to advance the state of the art in their fields. The workshop teaches the basics of supercomputing needed for starting to use HPC systems for (neuroscience) research. This includes on the one hand introductory lectures with hands-on sessions about scientific computing in Python and an introduction to the usage of HPC systems and (big) data management.
Anne Carstensen from the Juelich Supercomputing Centre does a presentation on the Access to the Fenix infrastructure on Thursday 11 July. The talk focuses on providing information on how users can secure access to resources of the Fenix Infrastructure. After a short introduction into the Fenix Infrastructure and its services, the participants get to know which resources are currently available and how they can apply for resource allocations as an HBP member and via PRACE.
