Fenix endorses the Manifesto for EU COVID-19 research

20 May 2022

In July 2020, the European Commission issued a manifesto to accelerate the use of research results to fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. The manifesto is valid until January 2023 and calls on public and private organisations, individual researchers and innovators to voluntarily engage in making research results more visible, accessible and free to use for the benefit of society during the pandemic.

The Fenix Infrastructure supports this initiative to maximise the accessibility of research results in the fight against COVID-19 as it understands that research is essential for society as a whole, and that, as demonstrated by the COVID-19 crisis, science matters more than ever for the progress of society. In the context of the Fast Track Call for Proposals published by the Partnership for Advanced Computing in Europe (PRACE) “PRACE Support To Mitigate Impact Of COVID-19 Pandemic”, Fenix provided compute, cloud and storage resources, complementing the resources offered by PRACE. Given its highly relevant experience, Fenix would specifically like to support researchers who work on COVID-19 by offering them ICEI/Fenix resources via the regular resource allocation mechanisms. Details on the offered resources are summarized on the available resources page and information on user access is published here
