The Fenix team was happy to take part in the FENS 2020 Virtual Forum that was held in a digital format on 11-15 July 2020. Anne Nahm (Juelich Supercomputing Centre) and Alex Upton (CSCS) talked about Fenix in a video presentation that was streamed twice during the event, followed by a live Q&A with the attendees.
The presentation was called "Computational Resources for Neuroscientists" and it offered insights of the available Fenix infrastructure services and resources as well as of use cases of neuroscience projects that have taken advantage of the services to produce novel research results.
In particular, the use cases showcased in the presentation were:
• Full-scale hippocampus model (PI: M. Migliore, CNR-IBF Computational Neuroscience Laboratory, Italy). Read the success story of this use case here.
• NEST network construction and simulation (PI: H. E. Plesser, Norwegian University of Life Sciences Faculty of Science and Technology, Norway)
• Neuromorphic Computing Front-end Services (PI: A Davison, Paris-Saclay Institute of Neuroscience Department of Integrative and Computational Neuroscience, France)
The different ways to access the resources were also highlighted during the video presentation with an emphasis on the ongoing Human Brain Project/EBRAINS Call for Proposals for European Neuroscientists at Large for Using ICEI e-Infrastructure Resources.
